Our special guest Eric Jacobsen will be performing live at Tokyo Special Workshop on both AM/PM sessions. He has been involved in mainly in the world of educational entertainment in Japan for more than 20 years. He has participated in activities such as offering music to TV programs and English teaching materials, singing in CMs, voice acting, and content supervision of English teaching materials. Eric’s songs making use of the natural English rhythms, poetical sense skillfully expressing vocabulary words are very popular among children, parents, and English educators in the field.
Since 1998 he has appeared on the NHK educational program “Eigo de Aobo”. Concerts hosted throughout the country, including NHK educational programs, are supported by many people as an opportunity for both children and adults to sing & dance, and experience natural English without difficulty.
John Cruft 【Trainer for Morning Session】
John Cruft is the Regional Professional Development Manager for Macmillan Education, Asia. He has been working in South and Southeast Asia for over 12 years as both a teacher and teacher trainer. He has also designed and delivered professional development workshops across the Asian region in many different contexts, including government INSETT projects in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. John holds a Master’s degree in Education and International Development from the Institute of Education in London, where the focus of his study was on education systems across Asia. He also holds a PGDip TESOL from the University of Nottingham, where his studies included teacher education in Southeast Asia.
Chiyuki Yanase 【Trainer for Afternoon Session】
Chiyuki Yanase is a language school owner, an EFL material writer and a lecturer at several universities in Tokyo. She has been teaching English for young learners in Japan for over 20 years and holds a Master’s degree in Teaching English for Young Learners from Aston University in the UK. She has presented at numerous conferences, and published several articles on team-teaching, learner autonomy and collaborative learning.
